In 2011, it is anticipated that the use of English in spam will fall from approximately 95% of all spam to below 90%, Symantec predicted.
Spam will become “more culturally and linguistically diverse”, said Symantec, as emerging economies will experience an increased take-up in economic growth and broadband usages.
Symantec anticipates that spammers will target Brazil with more than 40% of spam in Portuguese, Italy to receive 20-25% of spam in Italian, France to receive 15-20% spam in French and Germany to receive 10-15% of its spam in German. China will also receive 10-15% of spam in Chinese, Japan will be targeted with 10-15% spam in Japanese, and Saudi Arabia will receive 10% of its spam in Arabic. [Read more…]
