The Australian Communications and Media Authority has recently issued an enforceable undertaking and payment of a $110,000 infringement notice to Tiger Airways Holdings Limited for failure of its Australian subsidiary, Tiger Airways Australia Pty Limited to unsubscribe customers email addresses from marketing emails.
An ACMA investigation found Tigers Airways Australia failing to remove customers email addresses from its mailing lists despite repeated requests.
“This action is another reminder to businesses that that they should pay attention to what their customers are saying, test their email unsubscribe facilities regularly, and not simply set and forget them. Tiger has now committed to ensuring its unsubscribe facilities are functional and effective,” said ACMA Deputy Chairman Richard Bean.
Breaches of enforceable undertakings can result in Federal Court action, said Mr Bean.
